Archers are brackish fish and in doing a little research on the net, they grow to almost a foot long so that would be much to big for a 20g, especially if you were to not fill it up all the way.

Here's what I would do...
2 dwarf gouramis
7 neons or cardnials
1 male betta [or 3 females]
3 cherry barbs
7 julii cories

OR
4 julii cories
5 tiger barbs
6 cardinals or neons
2 dwarf gouramis
5 harliqiuns

Yup. I'm that crazy Twilight/animal/music girl

An angel or two would be great to start in a 20 tall. They may eventuall outgrow the tank, but the tall parameters of the tank fit their body shape excellently. You also may want to look into a few freshwater figure 8 puffers. These fish are EXTREMELY curious and active and of all the fish I've had are the most fun to watch.

put some branches in the empty part and get a couple of archer fish. when feeding comes along you put crikets on the branches and they will shoot them down with water that they squirt from their mouths and eat them, rather cool to watch

Archer fish are Brackish water fish(as far as I know) and they're timid. If you want them to feed you should only have a species tank IMO

10G- 6 Zebra Danios, 1 Upside Down Catfish
20G- 1 Goldfish
72G(maybe95)- Need Stock suggestions
