I've noticed white "fuzz" growing in my problematic 30gal... and by growing I mean it seem to be quickly reproducing itself. It resembles hair algae by the way it flows with the water but like I said, it is white. I have only been feeding the tank one small feeding a day to ensure it is not an overfeeding problem but the problem persists.

I've tried to research what it could be and the general consensus seems to suggest some sort of fungus though others suggest it could be white algae. In any event, I cannot seem to find a consensus on remedy. Some places say to filter it out and add fungus cure. Other places say to leave it alone as it's not harmful. I've gone with the filter it out remedy because even though my fish do not seem to care about its presence, I can't stand looking at it !! However, I can still see traces of it around which to me suggests it will probably replicate itself once again if I don't do something.

Suggestions ?? It is driving me :%)

is it causing any problem other than being unsightly? Also, what is it growing on? If it is growing on a piece of driftwood, it may de some fuzzy stuff that I had that just disapears after a while. As long as your water parameters seem to be doing fine, and your fish seem ok, then it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

it is growing right on the gravel and glass (back and a little in the front) in one section (the area most frequented by the corys). When I was syphoning it out, it was almost binding the gravel together so it took some work and at that I was only able to get the obvious out (I can still see it just under the gravel). It doesn't seem to be affecting the water parameters and like I said the fish just don't seem to care one bit but it looks horrendous.

Edited to add: By the way Racso, I love your sig !!

thanks, I quite enjoy my sig also.

Ok, it may be something you may just want to pull out of the aquarium yourself. It most likely will be slimey and something that most people don't want to touch, just to get you ready for that nasty feeling.
