Croaking Gouramis are too small to eat an average-sized Ghost Shrimp. I'm willing to bet it was the frogs, and frankly I'm surprised they haven't tried to have a go at the gouramis as well.

my female croaking gouramie is about 2 inches and my male is about 3.1 inches, my adf is about 1.5 inches.

the adf doesn't seem to go after any of my fish, but i did see him nibble on the dead shrimp.

Natalie's probably thinking of ACF's, which can reach a substancial size of up to 6 inches and will occasionally eat small fish.

African Dwarf Frogs will eat small fish as well.

I've not seen African Dwarf Frogs (and frankly don't have much interest in them), but from what I've seen of the capacity of some land-living amphibians to engulf huge mouthfuls in relation to their body size, I'd be looking at the frogs as culprits too.

Put it this way, any Australians who have seen Bufo marinus, the Cane Toad, in action, will vouch for the ability of amphibians to engulf huge morsels at one sitting.

Dwarf frogs very rarely if ever go after ghost shrimp and are horrible hunters. While they occasionally catch small fish it takes them lots of tries and it usually looks like an accident when they manage to get one. I've also actually heard of full grown ghost shrimp picking on dwarf frogs before. On the other hand those tiny gouramis will most definitely eat shrimp or at least attempt it even if those shrimp are bigger than they are. Croaking gouramis are bigger than my sparkling gouramis and mine will wipe out a tank of ghost shrimp in less than an hour. They quite love hunting them down and chances are killed all of them, ate till their tummies were ready to explode, and left the remains when they were full and bored with it.
