I have alot of algea in my 10 gal tank. I have 3 goldfish. I am going to add a balck snail the ones which they come up when it rains. Would it be fine with my gold fish? HOw many snails should i have? I dont want them to get babies. What should i feed them other than eating algea? What size should i get them.

Thanks for ur help.

I'm not sure what snails your talking about. Snails overall aren't great algae eaters and are great waste producers. There are a few algae eating species but overall they aren't very effective unless they are starving and there's nothing but algae to eat. They prefer meaty foods and leftover fish food to algae. Most snails reproduce like crazy and you only need 1 to produce more. They don't require a mate. The exception is apple or mystery snails which do require a mate and do not multiply so easily. These snails are not algae eaters though and will only add to your bioload. Your problem is you have too many critters in too small of tank. Adding more is only going to create more waste, more nutrients, and more algae not less. You need a bigger tank or your problems are only going to get worse.

Hi there,
just a quick comment. You have 3 fish who have
the possibility of reach up to 14 inches in length
in a 10g tank.
Goldfish require 30g for the first fish and 10g per
additional fish.
You have no room for anything additional in a 10g tank.
If you dont get a bigger tank for your goldies, they
will stunt, which is painful and cruel.
Goldfish if cared for properly can live up to 20-25 years.
In a 10g tank, yours have a possible life span of
maybe 1-2 years.

I totally agree with So_Very_Sneaky. The tank is overstocked with 3 fish. Do a black out... No feeding and what not...You can probably find more on the Internet.

10G- 6 Zebra Danios, 1 Upside Down Catfish
20G- 1 Goldfish
72G(maybe95)- Need Stock suggestions

As for your question, anything that comes up out of the ground when it rains is not going to survive in an aquatic environment.

I can't figure out why anyone still bothers to answer posts by this user. Despite being handed perfectly sound advice, he ignores it and then expects more answers to problems that wouldn't even have arisen had he followed the original advice.
