If you don't have a battery back up air pump, get one. My fault, but I put it off, checking the stores here-which don't carry them, & waiting to order a bunch of stuff together online because of the expensive shipping fees.

We lost power from the hurricane for 3 days. After about 12 hours(give or take)the fish started stressing. Fortunately, we had just bought a generator & I was able to hook up a filter/air stone and swap it out amongst all the tanks. But, it was a real pain-extension cords draped around the room-stupid dogs running into them. Good thing, I didn't lose any fish. And believe me, I was kicking myself the whole time for not buying a couple. The cheaper ones are only about 5-6 dollars online.

Everyone is subject to power outages, and usually by the time you realize you need it, it's too late. So, if you don't have one, get one!!!

Very good advice signal20 . Luckily Maryland wasn't hit all that bad this time round (ie: didnt' lose power) but I do remember realizing that I hadn't charged up my batteries for the airpumps that I had finally gotten the day after isabel struck us last year.

I've been saying I'm going to get one for a long time, and still haven't gotten around to it, but we were able to run the office tanks off of some of the UPS's that we had unplugged during the storm last year. I doubt we'll be able to do that again. Just the cost is a bit much atm , and I'm not sure how long they'd run for :%).

^_^

I have a couple of the very inexpensive $5-6 battery powered air pumps - I had one in the hospital tank a few weeks ago, it ran an airstone for just over 3 days on 2 D cell batteries.

I would blow bubbles in the tank with a straw, and get a bike tire pump, and pump air through the UGF, and air stones. (we have a compressor now, so that can do the job)

And I would do a slight WC, trying to keep the tank as cool as possible without stressing out the fish a great deal.

If you blow bubbles wouldnt you be adding more co2 than oxigen cause you exhale is mostly carbidixoide.
