Today I got a dwarf puffer . I use to have some a long time ago- but i saw them today and they are just sssooo cute i couldnt pass one up . He is in my 2.5 gallon tank with 2 dwarf frogs. I have a question- its been a long time since i have had them and i did get some pest snails b/c i remember how they need the snails to keep their beak(i think thats what there called) down. But how do you tell from male/female? Mine has like an orange tail- i dont know if that means anything. Thanks

Take the frogs out.The puffer(s) will kill them.
females are a little more round, Are dotted with freckles.
Males tend to be a bit smaller.Don't have distinct freckles. As they get older, they will develop a line down their bellies. And wrinkles behind their eyes. If you go to www.dwarfpuffers.com on the top banner, there is a male and a female.Lots of great info too.

yes, go to dwarfpuffers.com if you have any problems

If you didn't know this already, most dwarf puffers don't accept dry foods(flakes), but will only eat frozen or live food

Those frogs will be chewed up! It's not fair to them.

That tank is way to small for all 3 anyway. A tank that size will not be albe to handle the bioload (their wastes).
