I'm so excited ![]() I was at my friend's house, helping him repair a hole in his wall, when my girlfriend calls me and goes, "ANDY! ANDY! My dad brought home a fish tank with a catfish in it. Help! Ahhhh!" I was like, nah, it can't be that bad. So I drove over to her house and I was like...holy *beep*... ![]() The water was brown. There was brown algae everywhere. There was about 4 inches of water. Two and a half fish were inside. A pleco, a goldfish, and a dead half-eaten fish of some sort . So yea, the pleco is 12 inches long, goldfish is 5 inches long, and the half eaten fish is unknown. She called up her friend who works in a fish store and was able to secure a home for both the pleco and the goldfish. The goldfish went into a 20 gallon quarantine tank and the pleco into a 125 gallon all to himself.I spent the greater part of my day sitting in the sun and cleaned every part of the tank. I think I did a decent job. Just need to let it see if it will hold more than 4 inches of water without leaking and repaint the stand. My girlfriend's mom was like nope, we aren't keeping the tank, since you like fish so much, you can take it. You guys don't know how big my eyes were, I mean I was just .So yup, I now have a tank with the following. 25 gallon tank Black me 100 Watt Tronic Heater 200 AquaClear Filter Some unknown ugf system Lighthouse decoration Whisper Air Pump 200 and a bunch of air tubes and valves. Tank is 25 gallons. Dimensions are in inches. LxWxH: 36 x 10 x 16 I need some help thinking of fishes for the following themes: Colorful livebearers Black and White Tetras Thanks for any help. ![]() |

I'd say go for the colorful livebearers, OR get some mixed African cichlids, you can add lots of rock caves and such for them.. They're colorful and lively also.. The Amazon Nut... |

I would stick with smaller fish for that tank, too large and it won't look as good (IMO). If you wanted to combine the b&w theme with tetras you could go with black skirt tetras, some black sand, and albino corys. ^_^ ![]() |

Black and White: I'd say you could do this with the livebearers (mollies come in stunning pure black and pure white) and you can get nice black gravel and Hagen makes some nice black and pearl white plastic plants. Alternatively you could do other black and white fish, like gold skirt tetras, black neons, or black phantoms, but they are more "silver" than white and the black isn't that black. Tetras, yay! I'd say pick a species or two that you really like and get several of them; avoid Noah's Ark syndrome (two of every fish) and get one or two big schools; the fish look better when there's lots of the same one. They will school better. That said, I can't choose them for you; there are too many choices. My personal favorites are Bleeding Heart tetras and Lamp eye (red eye) tetras, but that's me. Pick what you like and run with it! Lucky you! I'm so adjective, I verb nouns! |

They are pretty neat looking. |
