Discus are beautiful fish, but I think they are a little too high maintenace for me. I've only been doing this for about a year - don't quite have the experience yet, IMO

misty7,

Fishkeeping, IMHO, is less a question of experience and more an issue of commitment. If you feel like you are up for the task then go for Discus.

I know I wouldn't do it though, for a few reasons:

- I don't have the time for the excessive water changes required by Discus (just ask Jack Wattley from TFH)
- I would have to change my FP name

Good luck with whatever you decide to add (but I suggest to take your time anyway),

Hello LF

I was just reading that monstrous thread you've got going over in the planted section - nice tank Good luck with that driftwood - I liked setup 6 the best....

LOL If you started with discus and with that major rehaul you're working on now, you might really have to change your FP name to something like "Have Big Fish, No Wife" !! (Just kiding)

My husband gave me "the look" when I bought the 75 gal (it's my fourth tank), especially when he figured out he had to carry it into our apartment for me

misty7,

You are a brave woman, reading the currently 51 pages, I applaud you

Your husband is a good man too, given that all you got was "the look". Usually, the ones of us who have a significant other which is not sharing our tank enthusiasm have to constantly be ready to duck and cover (from the verbal abuse) .

You joke of renaming myself to "Have Big Fish, No Wife" would probably become reality if I would have to tell my wife that I will spend 2 hours 3 times a week just on additional water changes (not to mention the regular maintenance on the weekend).

Have fun,

Ingo

Well, I'm lucky because my husband is a total "computer geek" - right now our second bedroom is The Computer Room. The last time I ventured in there, there were at least 7 computers!

He can't say much about my tanks
