A recent browse through a well known auction site produced this item:

The Lamp-Quarium is a high quality lamp with a hand blown fish bowl for the base.

The lamp-quarium is beautiful and functional!!

Goldfish, Bettas, and Danios can live long and healthy lives in the bowl with no additional equipment. To feed fish, simply lift the 3lb lamp unit off the bowl and sprinkle food onto water.

The Lamp Aquarium package includes:

Brass Lamp unit:
Compatible with 40 watt or 60 watt light bulbs.
Lifts off the fish bowl for easy feedings and maintenance.

Lamp shade:
Available in Blue, Green, Beige and Maroon.
You will be able to make your color selection at checkout.

Stones:
Color matches shade.

Plastic plant.

Glass bowl:
Volume: 2 US gallons

Can hardly believe that this "lamp-quarium" would provide the necessary environment for healthy or happy fish.... And where do people get the idea that fish are just "adornments" or "decorations"????????? ]:|

Maybe I'm just making a mountain out of a mole hill.... But it doesn't look humane to me!

To thine own self be true...

At least it's a 2g bowl instead of a 1 quart bowl. God, I wish they could give the death penalty for stupidity beyond belief...

That takes the cake of the hobby's most inappropriate modifications.

Actually, i think the handbags with the betta containers built in are worse, but this is defenitly high up there on the list.

I don't like those aquarium coffee tables either. Imagine being a fish and having cups and people's feet being flopped on top of your tank numerous times a day. It'd be nothing but an ich tank, imo, due to the stress.

Also, I find the hang-on-wall aquariums kind of gross due to the extreme lack of depth.

Here is a "bubble" aquarium you stick on the wall and apparently house a betta in. Reading the info, the part about having a mirror backing caught my attention. How nice is that, now your betta can flare at its reflection until it makes itself sick. http://bubbleaquariums.com/

In my old house when I was younger my dad used to have an aquarium which was built into the wall. It was pretty cool looking, and had a picture frame border going around it.

However, it wasn't a "hang on wall" type of aquarium. It was a normal size 20 gallon tank, and there was his workshop on the other side, so you could perform normal tank maintenance.

Another popular auction site had a 'fish tank headboard' for a bed. A thin tank built into the headboard. Interesting concept, poor design.

My dad had a 55g built into our basement wall. On the other side he had a separate room partitioned off from the laundry room and storage closets for all his fish 'stuff'. Plus he could do all the tank maintenance from back there. I'm trying to find out if my sister has a picture of it. That's pretty much what got me into fishkeeping.

These other 'tanks'? :%) What concerns me about the coffee table is it's cold water and they're recommending goldfish; is that actually big enough for them? Not that these things usually are
