Yeah like Heidi I feed my fish on all sorts... peas, corn spinach, brocolli, rice, cucumber, courgette (zucchini), tomato, raw shrimps, tinned tuna, parsley, apple, pumpkin sprouts... you name it, I've fed it!

P.S. MegTheFish, you really shouldn't feed kiwis to your fish. They're either an endangered bird or New Zealanders, and either way it's probably illegal

Whetu, I laughed out loud at your story about your sister in law telling the shop assistant she was married to a "kiwi". Shop asst must have had a priceless mental picture. Little fuzzy round fruit tucking into a cold one with a straw and a bib on!

Even knowing a Kiwi is a New Zealander doesn't make the story less funny. That is such a good response. Too funny.

I put a slice of zuchini in for my striped rubbernose, and he ignored it completely, as did the snails

Don't worry, MegTheFish, I'm not really very insane. :%)

It's just that here in Kiwiland we call kiwi fruit "kiwi fruit" never "kiwi." To us a kiwi is a bird and a Kiwi is a New Zealander.

My brother lives in Canada. One day his Canadian wife was stocking up on cartons of New Zealand beer. The woman behind the counter asked "why are you buying so much beer?" My sister-in-law replied "because I'm married to a Kiwi." The sales assistant just about wet herself laughing.

I've fed chicken and roast beef to my betta before he got on a steady proper betta diet. Might go for a treat of the same eventually as well.

Haven't tried a lot of "people food" otherwise. The marine fish get nori.

I feed my Malawi cichlids a DIY concoction of green pea, shrimp, spirulina powder, and liquid vitamin... all held together by gelatine. As featured in my thread:

What little household treats do you like to feed to your fish? Cucumbers, meat, etc...

Maybe if it was raw... will give it a try when I cook seafood spaghetti for a family Christmas get together on the 19th.

Broccoli is a favorite with my fish. I've also fed them lettuce, fresh spinach, zucchini, cucumber, banana, and peas.

Maybe I should say what haven't I fed them...

peas popped out of their skins is a favorite. Carrots are well eaten...ok most vegies are great...Had a "fight/chase" one time for brocolli, it was hilarious!!!
I've given them Spaghetti noodles, which was interesting...
Oranges on occasion...Shrimp....oh and my hands when I stick them in, along with arms, elbows...etc...like I said what haven't I fed them...Heidi:%)

zucchini once a week or so. Peas popped from the skin are a winner too...always clean their plates when I dish up peas.

cucumber is less popular.

Don't like acidic things like tomato and orange in my tropical tank and my goldies don't like it anyway.
