Ive got a young molly that was raised with danio fry. A friend of mine had fry from danios and mollies at "about" the same time, and put them all in the same tank. one molly was picked on by it siblings, and it started hanging out with the danios. all the molly fry were removed from the nursery tank at about 6 weeks of age. the lone molly sulked, stopped eating, ect, so it was put back in with the danios, and immediately perked right back up. this friend gave me 6 of the danio fry and the young molly- as she didnt want them seperated.
my original danios have no problems with the new danios, but run of the molly . then the young danios, go off with their molly friend, and i basically have 2 schools- one of 8 danios, one of 6 danios and a molly.
do my new fish need counceling?? Are the young danios and molly eventually going to realize that things arent quite right?? the danios are about 3 months, the molly is a bit younger, and already much larger than the danios.

Whether your fish start schooling with their own kind or not, there really isn't any harm in their behavior. Some fish have different personalities than others, as your young danios and molly have shown.

awww It's like one of those stories where a bunny is raised with a litter of kittens or something...*gets back on track* Anyway, as long as the molly doesn't get picked on, I don't think counseling will be necessary. Sure it's a little weird, but if everyones happy why change anything? If the other group of danios starts picking on the molly though, you might want to split them up into two tanks. G/L
