I had planned to get around two when I stocked my 55 gallon in a few months, but have been reading about lots of horror stories about angel suddenly getting really mean. A neighbor downstairs had an angel poke out one of his rosy barbs eyes (I still think it was because his tank was way to small to be keeping all those fish in there). I know that if they breed they can become aggressive, but how aggressive? Are they going to kill all my fish? Thanks for any and all advice? |

I also have a school of 15 harlequin rasboras (small fish). The angels have completely left them alone. I am having a problem in that two of the angels are an established couple and are beating up on the third. I am buying a new tank today for Angel #3 since I can't bear to take her back to the LFS. One word of advice: no neon tetras w/Angels. Neons are Angels natural food in the wild ![]() |

My angles would sometimes have quarrles, but they never killed one another. |

Then again, I've heard a few of those horror stories as well. It really depends on the personalities of the fish and whether they were raised together or not. |

I've kept an angelfish with a betta before, with no problems whatsoever. I have heard of angelfish destroying bettas though, which contradicts my experience. Personally, I believe that most angels are peaceful fish, but there is a small percentage that can be somewhat violent. |

My only concern would be if you ended up with a pair and any potential agreesion due to breeding. One of my angels lives with guppies, platies, and a paradisefish. The other looked similar to the black phantoms in the tank it lived in so it often schooled with them ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
