TRUST ME! You will definitely know when Angels have paired off! Mine stayed together - with the apparent male of the couple chasing off any other fish venturing too close.... As they matured, this behavior continued along with the frequent mating ritual - charging, shaking their bodies at one another, locking lips, etc. (Doesn't really look like "love" to me - but in the eye of the beholder I guess! ) As of yet, my Angels have not completed their spawning.... but I know that day is rapidly approaching! I'm really hoping to have my nursery tank emptied soon (by taking the fry - now about an 1" - to my lfs), and will place the paired Angels in that tank.... HOPEFULLY, a 20 gal high tank will be sufficient for that purpose... I would love to see the mating, spawning and development of Angel fry at least once in my life time!
Good Luck with your endeavors!

they will start to have babies, but the fish in your tank will eat them.

If you have slate in the tank, they will lay their eggs on that.

When our angles started having babies like 1ce a week, we moved them to their own 20 gallon tank, and just let them have babies. We were constantly making brine shrimp also... well not making it, but raising them. When the angles got about dime sized (maby even smaller) we would feed them regular flake food (powered up) and tubifex worms (which would acually shake the fish around when the babie was trying to eat it.. haha)
