I know ya'll get this all the time but I don't what to get for my tank. It is a ten gallon that has some plants in it. I am growing water lilies and some other stuff for a friend. they won't be in there long.
I am setting up a tank to keep in my dorm room at college.
I want something active and colorful. I have natural colored gravel, a whisper filter that has managed to kill my two guppies and seriously damage a betta. (and I've only had it about a week and a half)]:|. I like the idea of guppies but am not sure. I like lots of the tetras, platies, mollies and lots of the other fish seen on the other postings but I can't figure what would look good or live nicely together. Any suggestions about anything regarding tanks would be welcome.

P.S. I only have a 10 gallon b/c that is the biggest I am allowed]:|

What is your pH of your water?
Might help narrowing down the possibilities

I have two black skirt tetras but I am not really pleased with them. I got them free at walmart when my guppies died. I was just getting cheap fish to cycle my tank with. I did not expect these two to survive and now i'm stuck with them. my boyfirends sister is giving me her 5 male guppies. she doesn't want them anymore.
