mvicano![]() Fingerling Posts: 41 Kudos: 27 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-May-2004 ![]() | im starting a new 20g..........first planted tank......im thinking of using a sand bottom, lots of rocks and driftwood......and hopefully 4-5 nice size plants... what do u think about this: - 8 tiger barbs - 6 neon tetras (cardinal tetras?) - 1 rainbow shark also .... is there any way i can fit clown loachs into a 20g ??? even if just like 2 ??? and keep the rest of the tank occupants to a minimum ? |

There is no way that two, or even one clown loach will fit in a 20 gallon! Consider how big they get, over ten inches!!! Sorry, but you would have to go with a much bigger tank for those guys. |

They prefer four or more anyway. 75 litres - I'm assuming 3ft long x 12" width? I'd say your stocking is fine. |

And - clowns get 12 inches so theres no way! |

mvicano![]() Fingerling Posts: 41 Kudos: 27 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-May-2004 ![]() | thanks for the good replys... one more question......ive had tiger barbs in the past......and i love them.....thats why i want to get them again in this 20g.......when i used to have them i had them in a different 20g.....and they never grew more then an inch long.... I told my friend that im going to put maybe 8 of them in my new 20g and he says im nuts.......he claims tiger barbs grow huge........and i totally disagree with him because i had 6 tigers in my 20g community tank in the past and none of them grew large at all..... |

Tiger barbs don't even get to three inches, you don't have anything to worry about size-wise. |

mvicano![]() Fingerling Posts: 41 Kudos: 27 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-May-2004 ![]() | ok thanks guys....... i think what im going to do is first put the 8 tigers in when i buy them.......let them cycle the tank for awhile probably a week or so.......then add the neons.......and finally the rainbow.... i knew tigers didnt get large at all.....but just wanted some reassurance........they're such an awesome schooling fish |

Also maybe consider adding something to clean up algae- otto's, bristlenose, and shrimp all work well. Maybe instead of a rainbow shark you could add a krib?
