I ordered from aquariumfish.net last month and the fish are excellent. The only weird thing was I never received any confirmations by email or anything. The fish just showed up by UPS one day.

of course aquabid is a website . The only problem with aquabid is that your service will vary from person to person. You may get a great seller, you may get a horrible one.

I've had bad experience with aquariumfish.net. When they make a mistake they're in no rush to fix it. They take their sweet time. I ordered from them lots of times prior to the incident, and I never had any problems with them. I wanted some guppies, and they failed to tell me they were out of the kind I wanted. Then, when I told them the fish I wanted in exchange, I never heard from them again, and they had my money. ]

On the other hand, the problem was fixed, it just took me complaining to my credit card company to get it straightened out. I'm not paying for fish I never received.

I was looking at the fish2u site and they sale dyed fish. They had jellybean pearl scale goldfish and some cichlids that looked dyed to me. ]

how do they ship fish to your house without killing them?

With large packing bags that hold high amounts of oxygen. Packing them in a way that will keep the temperature from going out of control. Its no differant than how your LFS gets their fish.

What's wrong with betta vases? They're fine as long as you actually feed the bettas. And as long as you change the water.

I ordered from aquariumfish.net a couple of months ago and I also recommend them. Fish arrived in great condition and I actually did receive an email confirmation. Hope this helps.

I've ordered from both AquariumFish.net and LiveAquaria.com

I've never had problems with any of my fish orders. I'm not crazy about the high cost of shipping, but I only order fish I can't find locally and I wait so that I'm not paying shipping for just 2 or 3 fish.

If you have special requests though IME AquariumFish.net tries to meet those requests and comes through most of the time. I can't say the same for L.A.

Shipping will depend on where you live. If you can find an online seller that's closer to you, the shipping will be cheaper. If it's close enough that you can actually go there and pick up the fish, that's of course even cheaper.

"I can't order fish from people that sell betta vases. *shudders*"

I guess you won't be buying any fish then. Any store that is in the fish business will have Betta vases.

Not that I agree with keeping Bettas(or any fish) in a vase(or bowl).

am usually looking at the rarer and more unusual species of fish, which could account for their expense...

Yep, im sure im gonna be going through alot of online sites looking for certain species once i get my 125g.

Stop. Go no further. Both AquariumFish.Net and Fish2U have jacked up prices on fish you should be able to find at other online stores. LiveAquaria can be expensive, but it depends on the fish (for example, $999 for a catfish I can find for $85 is bull). For freshwater fish, these three stores should be your last resorts. Of course, I am usually looking at the rarer and more unusual species of fish, which could account for their expense...
