How many tiger barbs in a school would make them happy in a smaller tank like a 29?

Well, that depends on what other fish you have in there. If it was just the tiger barbs, then I'd say maybe twelve or so. Otherwise, six or seven would make a nice school. Just remember, these fish can be nippy. The more tigers you have, the more they tend to limit that behavior to themselves, instead of other fish.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

6 minimun for a good school. Tigers are a little nippy and do get a tad big maxing out at about 3in. If you got 6 that would leave some room for some other fish to add. I would make it an all tiger tank and go with about 12-15 tigers. Depending on filtration your water matenience schudelule ect ect.

That's what I did with my tigers. i had 6 in my community tank and they were too nippy. I added two more and they were still too nippy. I evicted them and gave them their own home in the 30 gal long. They like it better, my other fish like it better, and I like it better. I have added three more to the school ot make 11 and will probably add three more again and call it quits. You talk about ACTIVE!!!!!

i've seen a group of 30 tigers in a 55g, looks very cool especially when they school together. For a 29g I would put 10 or more, it would look very nice and would reduce aggression. If would be cool to see them swim in a school through plants and stuff if you had an amazon looking tank.

yea my tank is heavily planted (mostly fake) i only have live ancharis (or however it is spelt) as i don't have that great of lighting i don't know what other plants would look and thrive good in my cheapo 29 gallon walmart tank. Of course i had to get a new heater and filtration at a later time. I would like to add more barbs but i think that would send me way overstocked.
