I wouldnt be surprised if it is just a rare type fish or newly discovered type that by accident or stupidity made it out to the consumer who likely bought it mislabelled as something else. Sort of how I got my polka dot botia by the same reason, marked as a kuhli loach for 5.49.
It does look like either a killifish of some sort, or a more exotic livebearer.

Ah, the Black Morpho... I've never seen this fish, but I've read descriptions from our very own Calilasseia. I don't need to write an article about this fish (not that I know much of it anyway), since Cali, I'm pretty sure, has already written one for these fish, or at least written one mentioning it.

i dnt think its bits of other fish, thats incredibly hard to make look realistic with no seams or distortion etc. However it probably has been enhanced slightly, esp as im pretty sure it was for a competition. Altho its not a million miles away from these pics so under different lighting, good camera, bit of extra saturation uve got a good bright colourful fish...

i can see how the photo looks like a photoshop/ fake image. the bottom just looks too "neonish" and other parts just look like bits of other fish, and the black lips and stuff dont help either. if you loo at these photos> http://www.blackwaterfish.com/weitzmani.htm the original shown at http://aquariumadvice.com/download.php?id=9298&sid=8c0c3186e4756466328e78b7a265ad95
doesnt realy look the same, it has more colours and different colours at that, maybe its a photo of the Poecilocharax weitzmani but then faked to the max to look bettter, just my opinion. maybe jimmy 22 can say if all the colours are the same in REAL life.

Hmmm... perhaps this one should go in the ranks for Rare Fish of the Week. That is a cool little fish.

Yup it a Poecilocharax weitamani which means Black Darter tetra. It from Tropical America. It requires a P.H of 6.5,Hardness 8,26C and it grow up to 4cm long. It eat mostly live food, bottom swimmer, very peaceful. Found it in my Dr. Axelrod's Mini Atlas book.

Anyone else notice the fins are not the same? That one looks even more like a rainbow shiner

That's just an effect of the photographic technique they used to keep the viewers focus on the fish itself.

Does anyone have any idea of what this fish could be? I've seen it on a aquarium gallery website, the poster had no idea either! I wasnt even sure if it was FW but by the pic it's in a planted tank...

Interesting you mention the out-of-focus fish in the foreground. Anyone else notice the fins are not the same? That one looks even more like a rainbow shiner.

you know i was wondering if ti had been made up, but to do that would take some serious work and i dnt think it has been, i think this is for real. esp as its so clearly in focus, there's another one just out of shot which isnt in focus, not saying it couldnt be done... but dnt think it is, i will try and find the orignal site i found it, was a reputable (sp?) source if memory serves me well...
