i was wondering if a black ghost knofe fish would be compadable with cichlids namely 2 convicts and 1 jewelled. they are in a 27 gallon tank

No, since all of the fish you mentioned need bigger tanks.

BGK's need a 55 gallon tank minimum (US gallons)

nope black ghost knife get up to 18in and need a 75gallon when they get older they wont be able to turn around easily in a 55gallon. 18in fish 12in width. kinda pushing it.

most BGK's max out at 12" in captivity.

Also, a fish isnt fully extended when turning around.

I have a huge pleco in my 55g, and it can turn around fine with no problem at all.

Black ghost knifes get bigger than plecos though, and can exceed twenty inches in captivity. It depends on if they are given enough room to grow. I personally would give these fish at least ninety gallons.

The convict and jewel cichlids will eventually need a bigger tank, just so you know.
