i have recently read several posts regarding the use of live blackworms as a food source. i have never used them, but from what i have read, they appear to establish colonies in aqauriums' substrates.

i have found a local source for live blackworms, but am hesitant to try them. do the surviving colonies cause any damage to fish? are they considered a nuisance similar to snails? do they eat any uneaten food particles they may find in the gravel?

any info would be appreciated.

If you feed them correctly and all are eaten before they reach the substrate, you should be fine. I overfed once in my 75 and had a bunch make homes under some rocks, and i didn't notice a difference in water quality, and the next time i did a water change and moved the rock, they were gobbled up by my cories and loaches.
