The pair should be conditioned on live food. They are cave spawners, so make sure they have a place to deposit their eggs. The eggs should hatch in four to six days, and the fry need very small food (infusoria, etc.) until they become free-swimming. Once that happens, you can feed them on baby brine shrimp. That pretty much covers my knowledge on the subject, but I dug up some sites for you: [link=http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile74.html]http://badmanstropicalfish.com/profiles/profile74.html" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] [link=The second paragraph]http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/breeding/Zilliox_Apistogramma_cacatuoides.html" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] [link=http://www.pvas.com/articles/bethea-a-cacatuoides.htm]http://www.pvas.com/articles/bethea-a-cacatuoides.htm" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] I hope this will help you out. These cichlids are supposed to be pretty prolific, but they are rumored to be bad parents. |

Soft, acidic water will probably be most conducive to breeding. Provide plenty of hiding places and potential breeding spots (such as overturned flowerpots, pvc pipes, rock caves). Live food, as mentioned, and slightly warmer than normal temps (upper 70s to low 80s?)should help as well. Best wishes for your fishes! |
