I currently have a bubble bar in my 29 gallon tank. I was thinking about removing it becuase it creates a huge current in my tank and uproots alot of my plants. I was just wondering if removing the bubble bar would hurt my fish at all since they may have become used to it. Is it necessary to have a bubble bar or will they be fine without it. I would rather sacrifice a few plants than my fish. Thanks in advance!

Removing it won't hurt your fish, they'll quickly get used to not having it in there. The main question is, do you have enough aeration without it? Make sure you have plenty of aeration, or the oxygen content in the water will go down, hurting the fish. As long as you have lots of surface motion, preferably created by something in the tank, you should be fine with the oxygen content.

As long as you have something disturbing the surface of the water (your filter probably does this) they will be fine without the bubbles.

Have fun, Mike

I have the penguin 330 filter for my 29 gallon. It seems to keep the water moving pretty well and there is still movement at the top, particularly by where the water comes out. Do you think this will be okay? Thanks for the fast replies!

I'd turn it off. If you find your fish gasping and surfacing in the morning (when oxygen levels are lowest because of plant usage), put it back on. Also, if your plants are being uprooted by current, then they probably aren't rooted properly in the first place.
