Besides, they've built bubblenests long before I ever had females. ![]() They build bubble nests when they are happy, content, bored, whenever they feel like it... and they especially get into the "mood" when it warms up. Since the warmer weather has arrived, my bettas blow nests non-stop and bigger than they've built them before. Don't worry if yours doesn't build a bubble nest, I have two bettas that hardly ever do. And then, of course, I have a female (well, the jury is still deliberating over that...) who blows a bigger nest than almost all of my males. My buddy Equity, here *points* is my work betta... he builds enormous bubble nests, then pops half of it within hours. He's a doof. Things that are good for bubble nesting: Little to no current, warmth, and security. A female to flare at wouldn't hurt, but it may help. As for security, don't expect a betta to nest right away. Let him get comfortable with his home. Of course, Equity was blowing a bubble nest in that stupid little cup the LFS kept him in. ![]() ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
