Well it depends on what size tank they'll be in that determines their tankmates. But have a good few caves/cracks for them to get in to and to estsablish their territories.

Brackish or freshwater, it depends on how they were kept at the lfs. I know people here keep them in both.

I currently have a small planted brackish tank for 3 of these wonderful guys... you need to keep them in whatever they are in at the LFS or you could slowly acclimitize them to brackish from fresh(ask the LFS how they came... some stores put them in fresh but they are recieved in brackish) You need to make sure to have enough territory for everyone. It is also preferable to not have more than one male(males have a brighter yellow colour). Also remember they will not take flake food so a good variety of live or frozen food(as long as there is a current in the tank the gobies will mistake frozen for live) must be availible. They are fine with other tank mates as long as there is nothing aggresive in the tank and enough room for everyone. Good luck and enjoy the little guys!

Good point about the food I've rarely heard of people having success getting them to eat flake, definitely plan on frozen or live. I've had lots of luck getting them to eat frozen.

They're intersting fish...no swim bladder and their pelvic fins form sort of a suction cup, you'll often see them stuck to the sides of the tank.

I have about 4 in my freshwater (4ft) tank, so I never see any agression... they are easy to keep,if not often hard 2 find in my tank. They refuse to eat flakes but they eat bloodworms. They seem 2 be pretty hardy fish and have gone through 2 outbrakes of white spot.

I have 3 in my 15 gal freshwater community tank and they are great. I love their cranky little faces! I bought 4 and one died overnight. The other 3 have been fine for about 15 months now. They have very well defined territories, eat only frozen bloodworms, not flakes, and are totally peaceful except for meal times when they chase but never injure each other.

ha ha

Yeah, they are not very active fish but that little mouth makes up for it every time! They are also one of the few fish in my tank who don't get frightened and hide when I first approach the glass. Very cute.

My hubby calls them the stoner fish of our tank....because they swim really fast around the tank and then just kinda stop and fall onto whatever they land on...but its always kinda graceful....I just addore them and have to get more, does anyone know how they breed...I know the lighter coloured ones are females usually... but thats about all
