The primary diet of the African Butterflyfish is, of course, insects. If you wish to supply this, you may, however some people have success weaning them onto pelletized floating carnivore pellets, if I'm not mistaken. 2. They do not need floating plants, but it makes sense to me that they'd feel better with it. However, there's no need to get too much if the fish is able to keep hidden how it wants. 3. As answered, you do not need feeder guppies. They will eat them, but you don't need to chance with disease as this fish accepts other foods. 4. The fish will probably avoid jumping during a water change, and it will most definitely not cut you. Jumping is not an aggressive behavior; the fish will most likely jump either to catch food or escape a body of water it finds not to be satisfactory (which is the case with many fish). -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
