is it possible to have a single convict & a Red Tail or Rainbow shark together?

I'm not gonna mix the sharks, I just haven't decided if I should geta Rainbow or a RedTail Black shark to go w/ my convict.

Thats your call they are both great fish, the black shark stays smaller though depending on your tank size that could also decide which to go with.

To house these fish together (1 Shark and 1 Convict) you need a 55g aquarium or larger, but yes it is possible.

On a more informational note... My Red Tailed Shark was kept with firemouths and she tormented them until they were her size, even still the chases were commonplace. Convicts grow very fast and might outgrow the shark and end up making it a snack. This is a very dangerous proposition and I wouldn't do it... It just doesn't look natural to have an asian cyprinid with a new world cichlid.

yes its possible but why create problems when they can be easily avoided.

Edit. I might have read it wrong but i thought you were telling him to put the 2 sharks together.

They should be fine in the tank together.
the convict may chase the shark from his territory at times but it is usually harmless.

[font color="#000080"]Yes, it is possible. But a 55g at least would be needed. I don't really like the idea, but it's your tank.

I think that would be fine.
Both Rainbow Sharks and Red Tail Black Sharks get the same size, around 6 inches or slightly longer. With the wicked nasty personality of these sharks I wouldnt worry for its safety. Convicts are not that tough. I think you would be just fine. The Rainbow Shark will be more aggressive and Albino ones are super nice looking when they are full grown!

everything i've heard and read and experienced says that the rtb will be more aggressive than the rainbow! Personally, i like the high contrast look of rtb's so i favor them anyway =}
