i dont really see your problem! if you add some hornwort rite infrint of the filter it will slow down the current otherwise what other fish do you have?

What my wife did for our 10 gallon that has a female betta and a few cories is this:

She bought some thick plastic mesh that she planned on making covers for our 1 gallon jars that we have Bettas in.

She cut a piece and took yarn and ran it through the mesh and tied it so that the plastic mesh cuts the flow of the filter, and the betta just loves it. We get the tank filtered with not a lot of flow to push them around.

(I hope that you understand, if not I'll add a pic)

Is there any way that you can move the filter towards the center of the tank? You can also try building rock/driftwood formations to change the flow. I find it odd though that your fish have problems? This is becuase I have 930gph of current on my 55

Some fish, like bettas , don't like alot of current. Have you tried raising the water level to the highest it will go? Blocking the outflow will help some, blocking the intake also helps, but will put added strain on the impellor.

If you have plastic plants placing them in front of the outflow might also help break up the current, many live plants (hornwort especially) will just tear to shreds. If you want live, try something with solid leaves like java fern.

^_^
