I got 4 panda's about 3 weeks ago for my 10 gallon. There were two bigger ones and two smaller ones. One of the smaller ones had been less active. Somewhere in the last 24 hours the little guy died. I found his skeleton tonight picked clean. I had thought I was overfeeding, but apparently not! Now I am down to 3 pandas. There are also 4 guppy fry, 5 convict fry (tiny) and 2 gold mystery snails. When I found him, one of the snails was finishing him off. I'm curious, was he killed, or did he die of natural causes? (or will I ever know?)
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- somewhere between 0 and 5

(the convicts will be moving into a 55 gallon as soon as they are too big to fit in my dwarf gourami's mouth. I had also been waiting for petsmart to get more pandas in so I could boost my school up to 6, but I guess I just have to bite the bullet and pay 5 bucks more at the other lfs.)

how long have the tank been set up for?

I assume it is cycles because you have Nitrates.

It could of been a bacteral infection.

Juvenile Pandas tend to be sensitive about water changes. They are also VERY sensitive to such things as gunky gravel beds. If you have a large layer of brown mulm in your gravel bed, hoover it out with a gravel vac QUICK because it'll see off your other Pandas in pretty short order if you don't - Pandas absolutely HATE gunky gravel beds!

Panda's are very sensetive & need very good water conditions.

I'm not very lucky with them, but lately, i've been very unlucky with all my Corydoras, due to excess heat we're having here in Malta.

the tank has been up for about 4 months, it used to have guppys in it, but I moved them to another and decided on cories. The last water change/vac was 5 days ago, and I declorinated it and made sure it was the same temp as the water in the tank (lost a dojo to ick from having too drastic of a temperature change) There is no mulm at the bottom. The other small one is now hanging out by himself. I really dont want to loose him. There are no other symptoms then just being solitary and not as active as the others. I'm thinking it will relieve some stress to boost the school to 6, but if he does have something, I would hate to spread it to everyone else.
Thanks for the replies
