They are cool looking. I believe they are also filter feeders. They need lots of really tiny stuff to eat.
Beyond that I don't know much.

Good luck, Mike

dragon fish is sometimes used as another name for arowanas. Does your fish look like ones of these:

The links above give you some info about the fish. They grow very large, and need large tanks. Be careful, they can jump!

The Violet Goby is also commonly called the dragon fish, if I recall correctly.

So, here is an old thread about them.

Hopefully this is your fish; if not, heck, it still makes interesting reading.

If it's what I've seen labled as Dragonfish it has a snakelike body and a head that looks like a dragons with feathery looking appendages just behind the head.

Do you have a picture?

they groiw to around 18' so they need a tank of at least 150g as adults plus brackish water with fine sand. they are peaceful, omnivorous species. quickly-softening tablets along with live adult brine shrimps make up a good diet. be sure to lots of caves for hiding.

violet gobys. i dont think they grow 18'. every thing i read on them says they grow around 1.5' unless you ment 18" inches then that sounds about right.

Thanks..the pics of the violet gobys was not so clear..but its defently violet gobys..You should maybe have some hidding places for them..like a pice of pvc pipe or some flower pots would do.like i said the violet gobys have small eyes and therefor dificult for them to find the food.Have you seen them eat yet? try to give them black worms...good luck.

i told my husband never to buy fish from where he bought them because they do not take of their fish at all. we are going to stick with the other place i go because i have not had any trouble with our fish from there.we are going to see if we can locate these fish somewhere else.
