ahaha you're right i spend wayyyy tooo long in the LFS every time i go.... and I think i spend more on my fish than some people do on their drug habits

but the difference is that the LFS has tanks will all 1 species not just one sort of "genre" of fish, except the few display tanks they have, plus most of their tanks are totally undecorated

devon, you don't need a special tank, you need your own lfs

i haven't decided what my dream tank would be yet, but i think if i ever get my 150g tank, i may make my 50g nothing but clown plecos ]

Along the lines of the olympic sized pool... I would put North American fish in it...

Paddlefish
Shovelnose sturgeon
Pike
Channel catfish
Flathead catfish
gar
rainbow trout
brown trout
some schools of minnows like:
rainbow shiners
dace
...and some sunfish and darters for good measure

If not that, I'd go with Victorian cichlids. Set up a ginormous biotope. Possibly get some breeding populations and save a few species from extinction due to the lake disappearing and Nile Perch eating all the smaller fish...

Slightly-sorta-kinda-maybe realistic dream: 300 gal (the stock 10' size) stuffed with a shellie colony, ideally similis (although maybe a huge multi colony and Fronts to keep the numbers down).

Ha, yeah right dream: similar tank to The Fish Place's 1950 gal one, but without the yawn CA/SA cichlids they have . Instead, hmm ... Pacu, probably. C'mon, Pacu are cool. Or maybe a really big Lake Tang community, complete with (limited) predation.

Of course, these are just two of about a million dream tanks.

my dream tank.... would have to be an assortment of different sized tanks for specific fw groups... like i want a smallish killifish tank and a smallish shelldweller tank and a south american tank and an angel tank and a puffer tank..... the list goes on.

I have also always been fascinated with rays and cephalopods. a cuttlefish tank would be awesome.

My dream tank would be custom-made, since I've never seen anything like it yet. It would be very long, but not necessarily very deep. A big bottom feeder tank...cories, loaches, otos, plecs

More realistically I'd like at least a 75g for some sort of bigger cichlid; I like JDs, green terrors, severums, oscars.

Oh and I'd love to upgrade my 10g Endler's breeding tank to a 30g...heavily planted, more otos and panda cories, bunches & bunches of Endler's.

LOL, I am trying to picture an olympic size pool with nothing but tiger barbs, that would be silly. You must love tiger barbs!!

My dream tank is already in my living room, I'm a simple gal. I have a 75 gallon with my beloved blind cave fish (4 total). I also have 2 6-inch plecos, 5 tiger barbs and 4 buenos aires tetra. I want for no more than this simple setup, it is more than enough.
