CRclownfishy21![]() Fingerling Posts: 43 Kudos: 24 Votes: 0 Registered: 01-May-2004 ![]() | I was thinking about keeping a dwarf puffer in my thirty gallon. Is this the correct size tank? I've read that they need up to 50 gallons and I know someone who's keeping one in a 10 gallon, so I'm a little confused. Also what else could I keep with them? I've read that they're to agressive towards others of their species so you can only keep one per tank. Does this means that they have to be kept alone or is their a species or 2 that will get along with them? Thanks ![]() [span class="edited"][Edited by CRclownfishy21 2004-07-01 18:58][/span] |

The shrimp may become snacks. They've never bothered mine. General rule for dwarfs is at least 2gal per puffer. In a 30gal, you could get 15. If you went to a larger puffer like a South american, you could probably keep 3. If you want to go brackish, a Fig8 or Green spotted. Cycle the tank first. they are very sensitive to water conditions. I(and others in the hobby with puffers) do a weekly 50% water change. If you want more info, go to dwarfpuffers.com Kim ![]() |

IMO, 30 gallons might be small for Green Spotted Puffers at 6" Some GSP's end up living in full saltwater as adults |
