i just did a 30% water change on my 20g. it was a little over due. with in the last hour my cardinals and my rummy noses have gone bottom up. They were completely healthy before but now they are turning upside down and dieing! I have 3 angels, 2 rams and 2 cories still remaining in the tank. So far so good, should i move them to my other tank or do you think they will fair alright. Im not even sure what i did! I didnt do anything different and the tank is 3years mature. Hmmmmmmmmmmm???? =(

I can't speak for the cardinals, but IIRC, rummies are a bit on the sensitive side.

Was the water cold? Did it have a high pH?

Cards like really low pH (4.0-6.0 according to the profile here), so if the water's pH was too high it would have not been good for them...they're sensitive to any quick pH changes...

I don't think the water being too cold would have much effect on them unless it was with icewater... if you let it sit for an hour to come to room temp you should be fine...

When you say 'a little overdue'.... by how much? The problem with small tanks is that they require a lot more work and regularity of maintenance is essential. The fish have probably died as a result of the sudden changes in the water chemistry.
