Ok, I'm a little confused. Please list your tanks and what you have in them.

There are a few things wrong with your stock list. The oscars, jack dempsey, and fire mouth will grow too large for the 55g. One oscar is debatably cramped in there.

The 36 is also overstocked. Those fish just get too big to be together in that size tank.

I'm guessing the 55g was not cycled, and cycling takes weeks, not hours.

Also, tiger barbs are schoolers. You need at least 6 to keep them happy.

Sorry, I need a list of what is in each aquarium currently to help you further. You kind of lost me :%)

Not that you gave anyone time to reply. I don't know what wardley water care complete is but make sure it removes chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals. All of which could cause problems. Also the parameters on your tap and both your tanks water would be helpful. ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and maybe gh/kh tests would be helpful. I don't know much about those particular fish but I do know that 1 oscar needs 55g minimum so those 2 are going to need a large tank.

The obvious solution to your problem is not to overstock so much. Also, for future reference, it is really hard to help someone when you can barely understand them.

Let me get this straight. You have:

1 10 gallon, which was holding 2 oscars, a JD, and a firemouth.

1 36 gallon (tall?), which was holding 1 rainbow shark, 1 albino channel cat, 1 rope fish, 1 sucker fish (common pleco?), 1 tiger barb, 2 jewel cichlids, 2 dwarf gouramis, and 2 glass fish.

1 55 gallon, which was holding nothing.

So, you put the contents of the 10 gallon into the 36, at which time you did a water change on the 10 gallon. Then, you put the 2 glassfish and 2 dwarf gouramis in the 10 gallon. Now, you had the oscars, JD, firemouth, rainbow shark, channel cat, jewels, and tiger barb in the 36 gallon. 1 glass cat died and so did the channel cat.

Your 36 gallon was REALLY overstocked, as was your 10 gallon. Channel cats get about 3 feet long, and "sucker fish," by which I assume you mean a common pleco, get about 18 inches long. Glassfish and tiger barbs are schooling and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. Jewel cichlids can get very aggressive and don't belong in a community tank, IMO.

You 10 gallon was EXTREMELY overstocked. You need a 125 to hold all those fish! I know you said they are babies, but that is no excuse for animal mistreatment. a 55 gallon is also too small for those fish.

If they are babies, it's not mistreatment yet.

I think a 55 would be a good size for a few firemouths, but not for the oscars.

BTW, I don't know how any of you could read that post.

By putting 4 aggressive territorial fish in a small space, he is risking all of their lives. I call that mistreatment. Not to mention how bad the water quality must be from being so overstocked. That could lead to stunting, another thing that I consider mistreatment.

ok, for the "sucker fish" there are NUMEROUS fish you could have:

pleco (your pick from about 200 :%))
Chinese Algae Eater
Siamese algae eater
Oto

Some of those would be ok, others would not, you need to be more specific.

Also, you need to get rid of most of your fish, change some arrangements, and generally read up about the aquatic hobby. Yes you have come to the right place, but your posts have TOO many small questions in it to be answered in one.

Some things to look up on (all of which can be answered on this site):

Cycling (nitrogen cycle)
Bioload
Adult sizes of your fish
Aggression of your fish
Fish husbandry
Schooling and/or shoaling
Fish Compatibility

Good luck, Racso

When he says babies, I assume he means 1" or so. This probably isn't the case, but if they were 1 inchers, they wouldn't have reached sexual maturity yet, and wouldn't have been territorial. Obviously, he doesn't have very long to find them new homes.
