does it bother anyone else that on fish tank boxes they show wayyyy to many or wayyyy to large fish in the picture on the front?

I saw one the other day, it was a 5 gallon or something, and in the picture it showed it with like 10 baby tiger barbs + other innapropriate fish! ughh no wonder people can be so dumb about buying fish...

oh btw they also sell bala sharks, oscars, and common plecs at wal-mart... i almost threw a temper tantrum.

i've seen this, marineland also has big fish on their explorer.
but then again it's the marketing people who designed those boxes.

What's even worse is when you go into a rather good LFS and see one of these "betta" tanks (you know, the ones that come with a halogen lamp as the heater ) filled with 5 starved gold barbs, and a few corys and and and....all this in a tank the size of a CD. honestly

I just point it out to everyone I ever know in a fish store. All of my friends know it now and point it out to people they know too, I've started a vicious cycle

As for the fish that are sold, the worst I've seen so far were the Irridescent Sharks that I saw for sale at Wally World whose tag said they get up to 8" long. It was when whetu was here and I said I was gonna talk to a manager then, but I kept forgetting. Well, I finally did and he apologized and offerred me a refund on one that I "must have bought" to have learned that information. I had a few not-so-nice words for him and explained how bad of an impression a diplomatic representative had gotten of Wally World due to that misinformation. Thanks for being a Bottom-of-Earther whetu!
