i no this may sound silly to some, but what is free swimming fry, and how long does convict fry take to reach this stage roughly.

my fry swim around the joint all the time but only in the first 4 inches of the ground and in little schools.

and when should i remove my parents of my convicts'

When they hatch they are just eggs with tails. Gradually they absorb their yolk sak and develope all the pieces and parts they need.

About 5-7 days after they hatch they start swimming. Before they're free swimming the parents usually have them piled somewhere, in a pit in the gravel, on a leaf. At that stage they are wigglers.

Not sure why they put the free part in there. It's not as if they were swimming tethered before that. They just couldn't swim yet.
