Gradually they absorb their yolk sak and develope all the pieces and parts they need. About 5-7 days after they hatch they start swimming. Before they're free swimming the parents usually have them piled somewhere, in a pit in the gravel, on a leaf. At that stage they are wigglers. Not sure why they put the free part in there. It's not as if they were swimming tethered before that. They just couldn't swim yet. Mike |
