Is it possible to house a couple together with out any problems. Also, the profile says shelled food to keep teeth growth in check. What is shelled food? Any ohter information that could be helpful with these puffers is greatly apprecited. thank you |

The general rule is 2-3 gallons of water per each dwarf puffer, so you could have 3-4 puffers 2 puffers would be fine, there would probably be no aggresion For food, live foods and frozen food(NOT freeze-dry) are the only foods accepted, guess they just don't recognize dry food as...food To keep a dwarf's teeth trimmed, since they are continually growing, you would want to get some common pond snails from your lfs(usually for free, as they can be pests Then, you can keep them in a goldfishbowl(feed them some food, they will breed), and you have a farm of food for your puffers Oh, don't get Malaysian trumpet snails(MTS,characterized by their conical, spiral shell), because there shells are too hard sum it up -live food -frozen food -shells, no MTS -one puffer to 2-3 gallon been a while someone correct me if wrong... as a final word of advice I reccommend this site for dwarf puffers http://www.dwarfpuffers.com/ hth Last edited by me is already in use at 06-Oct-2004 17:00 |

The only thing I would add is that they really enjoy a heavily planted tank. Gives them more things to explore. Snails are good to feed them at least once a week. |

Usually they will give them to you for free. But, like stated earlier, make sure you stay away from the MTS, they can harm the puffer's teeth. Last edited by puffer_archer at 11-Oct-2004 19:12 |
