A follow up to this post.

I ended up with about six eggs, some on the anacharis, some free floating, but them in the breeder trap. And this morning I find there is a fry, yes one But I'm still really excited, this is my first non-livebearer fry.

It's quite tiny, free swimming mostly on the bottom of the net, looks white. I'm assuming it's a panda cory because of what I read about their spawning habits (in plants and java moss), but is there a chance it could be an oto? (pics of the eggs are in my original post).

Anyhow, what do I feed this tiny fish? I'm so not used to the size, it makes me Endler's fry look huge! Anything else I should know or be doing for it?

If it's really small I'd try liquid fry food to start then First Bites.

Good luck, Mike

Seems like I have two! I saw what I thought was the original fry between the glass & breeder net, I couldn't catch it though and it swam away. But I looked in the net and there's still a fry in there.

I already have nylon on my filter intake so it'll be safe that way. My Endler's don't eat their own fry, hopefully they won't bother this one.

Do otos or pandas eat their own fry?

Such trauma

Now I saw what I thought was fry #2 on the bottom. Thinking it was dead I grabbed the net, but it wasn't and I got it into the breeder net. This one is a bit larger and more active than #1...of course now I can't see #1 in the net...these little guys are going to drive me crazy

If these are Cory fry, Theresa, a suggestion that will help you keep them alive is this: get some Hornwort. This plant (Ceratophyllum demersum) is a nitrate hoover. It's probably the reason why "Big Junior: The Next Generation" is thriving in my nursery aquarium!

I did a water change in the tank today and added some hornwort. The tank is planted, various swords, java moss, anacharis.

Still two fry, although one is almost twice the size of the other.

Regarding feeding, I started a jar of peas & water. It's cloudy today, how long before it's ready and how will I know?
