Watch them!

If you see them picking at the powder once it's in range, time to stop worrying

Yes, your first priority is to get them eating. Crush flakes to powder and feed those while you get an infusoria culture up and running. Oh, peas aren't the only fuel that creates lots of little live fish food critters in an infusoria culture - any rotting vegetation will do. If you have an Amazon Swordplant with the odd withered leaf, for example, pluck it off and use that as a starter along with the crushed peas and some shredded lettuce leaf.

In future, however, the best policy (hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it?!?!?!?) is to start up a culture before you start breeding your fish

Feed them some powdered fish flakes before they starve, , or liquid fry food, or baby brine shrimp, or something. Then worry about the peas.

Depending on the size of the fry, infusoria culturing might be worth a try. Get a 3 litre jar (e.g., the infamous pickle jars that so many Americans know and love), fill 2/3 full of water, add half a dozen crushed fresh peas, and wait until the little life forms start appearing. These make prime fish food for babies. Worked a treat with my Panda babies!

I agree with whats been said and i would like to add something! If you hatch your baby fish live bbs they will grow faster but it is more work! otherwise do frozen or other HIGH protien foods so they will grow!

Hikari First Bites is also a good choice. You might was to try sinking the food rather than feeding on the surface, sometimes it takes fry a while to learn where the food is.

crush the flakes so small that they're basically a powder.

This is what I did when I fed my convict fry and they've grown quite well.

Keep in mind the size of the fry's mouth when feeding it. Look at the big flake, then look at their mouth Hit up the fish store and get some baby brine shrimp ( frozen), thaw it out in dechlorinated water and put in tank, or some of that liquid fry food...or if you can't get to the fish store any time within the next couple days, crush the flakes so small that they're basically a powder. You'll want the least amount of water current as possible while feeding as the food will get quickly sucked into a filter or tossed all over the tank.
