as i've given up on the idea of a larger tank for the moment due to the house being refited and lack of large funds, i've decided just to up grade the filters on my largest tank.
it's a 36x21x15 tank which has a interpet duo 3 filter (meant for tanks up to 36x12x12) and corner air filter which is unslighlty and makes a lot of noise.

So what are the best/ cheapest filter for my tank?
what is best option? 1) larger internal
2) second internal with my duo 3
3) new external - can't hide it have to go on the floor next to tank and are expensive.
and if a get a good filter that can cope with large bio-loads, could i add either 2-3 more corys or pair of blue rams??? i wouldn't add them the same time as filter, would wait for mini cycle to end.

also i've just brought 2 arcadia reflectors to cover my lighting tubes, to stop me getting blinded every time i open the lid and to help maximise light in the tank. has anybody used these are they worth having?

cheers for anything.

I'd go for the external filter and house it in a 'false cabinet' (easy and cheap to do with MDF).
The reflectors are really good at optimising the effect.
I use the fluval externals and never had a problem. 304 would be my choice.
