Well, as fishyhelper said, white clouds mountain minnows are a good choice. Danios are nigh indestructable, so they would be a good choice as well.

Alternately, you could go for a fishless cycle.

Fishless Cycle #1

Fishless Cycle #2

Fishless Cycle #3

Enjoy.

Cherry barbs are pretty hardy as well - I've cycled two tanks with them (before I heard about fishless cycling)

Platys would be my choice for two reasons (please don't take it that I'm suggesting my solution is better than those previously posted, its just my opinion.) Platys are hardy, they don't need to be in larger numbers like danios and are bigger than the minnows. These two factors allow you to consider your options further when stocking the rest of the tank.

I agree with white clouds. They are quite possibly the hardiest fish available.

My sister cycled one of her tanks with white cloud fry, and there were no problems whatsoever. All of them are perfectly healthy and happy (and grown up now).

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

thanks for the good replys... now lets say i were going to use danios. such as zebra danios.... should i use only 1 or 2 during the cycle process ?? or put a school of 6 ?? which i would be more likely to keep after the process is complete with some tiger barbs....
also a few more questions...
what is the correct way to ounce danio ?? ive always wondered this
and also....lets say i were to get 6 zebra danios and 8 tiger barbs in this new 20g.....would i have any room for some cories ?? cories are bottom feeders correct ?

thanks
