I was thinking about putting in 2 or 3 angels to act as a centerpiece fish for my 55 gallon tank, but after hearing some of the horror stories people have had with their angels, I'm a little hesistant. Is there any type of peaceful guorami (sp, it doesn't look right)that gets a little bigger than average fish but not huge that I could put in? Or any other ideas? They would be in a tank with all other super peaceful fish (tetras, loaches). TIA
Jen

How about a Gold Severum. They really stand out but you could end up with a cranky one just like Angels. The vast majority of Angelfish and Severums get along fine in a community tank but there are exceptions.

Don't let a few stories about aggressive fish scare you away from Angels if that's what you want. The only really cranky Angels I've had were part of a breeding pair.

Have fun, Mike

I agree with Mike.

A Kissing Gourami or 2 would look nice, they will rasp any alge you may have too.

Why not get angles?

We used to have like 5 in my 55g tank and there was NEVER any problems with them, untill 2 of them started to breed and chase anything that went near their breeding spot.

I've just recently heard all these horror stories about angels poking out other fish's eyes (nasty) and all I can think about is my innocent dojo loaches going by them and getting hurt. If you guys think they will be okay though, I guess I will stick with the angels. I know a place where I can get them small and in excellent conditiong. Thanks
Jen
