hello all

now i feel pretty dumb but i have never had anything but "live bearers" so i just don't know....
i bought 2 Dwarf cichlids about a month ago....they are "Jewels" i think she said...anyway they are about the same size and look pretty much the same....
now the puzzle,,,,a few days ago i found loads of "babies" being kept by both the fish.....question, were the eggs in the fish when i bought them and were fertilized?? or were they laid and then fertilized???....do i have a pair????
i didn't do well with the babies and have only 3 left...i am so sad and hope to get another group if i can some day....this time i hope i know what to do!!!!!
ellie
sorry for the rambling!!

You have a pair. Cichlids lay eggs and then fertilize them. They're sure to spawn again, no worries. In the meantime, keep your water quality very high (bad water quality is one of the top killers of fry), and look into getting some live foods - they're good for conditioning the parents and feeding the fry.
