Here's an easy one for you. I have a 40g tank, 3 foot long. I have 2 filters running in it as I had one in a 2 foot tnk that I am not using now, so it has good filtration, I clean once every 2 weeks. Currently I have in it the following;
5 barbs,
5 moss barbs,
3 corys,
2 bristlenones
1 red tailed black shark.

How many more barbs do you think I could add?
Would I be able to add albino barbs too?

I would like roughly even numbers of each that I have.

Thanks,
Claire.

Yes, you could add 5 more barbs, and you should probably add a few more cories because they do best in larger groups.

So if I add another 2 corys and another 5 barbs it would be fine? No more than 5?
Thanks for the quick reply.
Claire.

Out of curiousity, what type of barbs and cories do you have? You won't be able to add any barbs if they are, say, tinfoil barbs.

About the cories, I would add three more of the same kind that you already own, for the reason that six seems to be a good number for a shoal of them. Cories really love each others' company, so you will see an increase in activity on the bottom once you add more.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I'm pretty sure the barbs are all tiger barbs, considering green tiger barbs are often sold as "moss barbs". In which case they're certainly not huge and the above stocking level is about right.

Yes, they are tiger barbs, and my cories are bronze and one albino. So the reccomendation is another 5 barbs and 3 cories? Is that right?
Thanks,
Claire.

Awww, Tim, you're a sweetie. I will see if I can get some more corys next time I'm near the pet shop, and then the barbs in a month or two. But I don't think I'll post any piccies until I have my plants a bit healthier and bushier.

Claire.
