You should feed both the male and female live food (brine shrimp, bloodworms etc.) at least twice a day to condition them. Do you have them where they can see eachother? What else are you doing to condition the pair?

I feed 4-5 times a day, and i feed a wide variety of foods. (live, frozen and freeze dried).

can i feed her flakes at night and shimp in the morning or will that affect how she is conditioned for breeding?

You can feed her whatever and when ever, it wont affect anthing.

I've never heard anthing about a light making her produce more eggs To get her to produce more just up the feedings, add more variety, keep the water super clean, and keep her beside the male.
