Hi..i just read a article that if you turn on the light in the evening.the fish gets scared.because of the suuden light,so i thought maybe this can be a good idea. what a about a dimmer..with this dimmer you can adjust the brightness,so the fish will not get scared.there are lots of dimmers out there and some are cheap and the best one lutron dimmer is a pricy one.
I will buy one for sure

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

I've thought of the same thing - although I think more in terms of the sudden light causing pain - but I don't know if dimmers work with fluorescent lights.

There are also high-end fixtures designed to allow independent control and timing of each bulb of the fixture, so that you can set up lighting schedules, but that's probably too expensive.

I don't think you can dim fluorescent lights, but you can try a lower wattage light taht's just dimmer all around. Maybe try setting up an extra lightstrip and put a low-level light on there if you really want to operate on three levels of light. Then you can turn on the room light first, your low level light second, and your main light lastly. You can also turn off all three in the reverse order when it's time for fishie-bedtime...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

one thing about a dimmer on a flouescent light, you will go through bulbs alot quicker with a dimmer. its hard on the mechanism.
