hey!
its time for me to get a new
filter and a new heater.
for a while, i had
Tetra/Second nature whisper economy power filter
and Tetra whisper submersible heater in mind.
any suggestions? is there a better filter and heater
than this for my 20g tank?

What is your budget for these new purchases? Also, are you limited to buying from nearby stores or can you order online? If buying from nearby stores, what brands do you have to chose from?

Get a Penguin 330. It's got 2 biowheels on it and it moves alot of water, plus the filter cartriges are easy and it has baskets for media or you can put crushed coral or peat in them.

Also if you ever if you set up another tank you get a new 330, put a filter cartrige and wheel from your old one on it and presto a cycled tank.

You can get them online @ Petco.com for like $26.

Mike.

I've always been a fan of Aqua Clears....I've got an AC 150 running on my 20 gallon atm. and....well, can't remember the brand of heater, but go with a submersable one. Ebo jager is one of the best brands out there (have one in hte 30).

Online stores that have really great prices

That Fish place

or

Big Als.

Keep the old filter running w/the new one for about 3-4 weeks. It will give the filter time to build up bacteria and you won't need a new cycle. If you don't have room behind the aquarium, just hang it in front until it's time to get rid of the old one.
