I've been rearranging tanks & such this past week and find myself with an empty cycled 6g.

I'm planning a trip to my favorite lfs this weekend and remember them having a few types of killies available...would they do well in a 6g? How many and what sex ratio is best for killies? The tank is unheated but maintains a temp between 75-78, is this ok for killies?

Any other info regarding killies in general or specific species would be very much appreciated.

a 6g is fine, you can keep about 1-3 pairs in a 6 gallon depending on the type of killi. there's a rule with the aka, a pair of 1 in. killi need about 1g space. what type of killis do they have at your lfs?

As far as ratios go I'd stick with 1 male to 2 females. I have two pairs in my tank and one male has become very territorial. The smaller male spends the majority of his time getting chased away or hiding among the plants.

That's pretty cool that you have an LFS that sells killis. I've only ever seen them once at Petsmart. Even the local Ma and Pa shops don't stock them.

Either do a 1 male to several females, or several males to a couple females. For most of the killi species it's bad news to have just 2 males together in a tank, they will make a big deal of it constantly!
But in proper tanks with good plants or other such decorations more then 2 males with some females typically will do just fine.

Stick with Killies that get no more then 2 inches if you want a lot of them. Others like the yellow wonder killi which seems to be popular around here can get up to 4 inches. That just wouldn't be a good idea in a 6G.

Do some research on them online before you go. Write down the names and info of ones you like, and then go see if your store has them.
What is your pH like? Water parameters are different from speices to species.
