Not entirely sure about the Pacu, but if you look at the pic I posted it's obvious an Arapaima would outgrow it eventually. Though it's good that Arapaima are not the most active fish in the world, their sheer size obviously makes the tank size they need godawfully enormous. A Pacu may be okay with a tank that large, but obviously bigger is always better.

Lol, yeah I know...but I'm gonna need a pacu pond eventually anyway...

Do you think this would work for pacu, or arapaima?

They are to some degree, but there aren't many set-ups that can contain adult pacu, much less even only young arapaima.:%)

Are arapaima and pacu compatible?

I agree. The Bichirs aren't really that large.

If you insist, Cali...:%)

Also, I have seen Arapaima way cheaper than $250. I have only seen one hobbyist's set-up containing Arapaima that I'm satisfied is safe for housing it. However, the owner also can afford a cleaner for the pond, so that should tell you something...:%)

The Polypterus retropinnis ssp. only reach 10"-12", the delhezi and weeksi 14"-16", and the palmas ssp. 12"-14"....hardly anywhere near the 120"-180" A. gigas.
