I know nothing about them, but...

If I couldn't close my eyes, I wouldn't want lasers shining around me all time!

I imagine it would stress the poor fish, zaps of laser lights flashing at them.

It would like be living in a permanent disco ) Just another ploy to seperate an aquarist with his money.

On a more practical note, perhaps it's that it lights up specks of debris floating around in the water so you know you have to change it...

Well, who knows... Maybe it DOES work. Maybe it zaps the owner of the tank into doing more maintenence on the tank, thereby yielding longer lifespans, etc.

i think on the label, it says that the laser is ok for the fish, but it also states that its bad for your eyes.... well, i dunno what to say.

maybe i'll hook up a laser pen pointer to my aquarium... see if anything gets fried next morning. ]

Well, my initial reaction when I read this thread wasn't so histerical as Jake was but it was definitely something like "OK whatever, another piece of trash thats obviously isn't needed." You know, just like when your local teen employee at your LFS says "You don't need to worry about ammonia, just drop them all in the day you buy them".

Oh yeah Jake, HAhahahHAhahhahaha. I never seen your reply with so much humor!! ]

Hahahahahhahahahaha (breathes) hahahahahahahahaha

Treasure Chest opens and closes revealing a stunning laser light show.Fish raised with the Miracle Beam Aquarium Laser System have brighter colors, stronger bodies, larger fins, and fewer diseases.

Perfect for fresh or saltwater fish.
Improves the color of your tropical fish and enhances fin growth.
Treasure Chest opens and closes (with use of air pump, not included).
Increases the life span of your fish.
Helps reduce bacteria and infection by purifying the water.
Increases the incubation rate of eggs and growth of fry.
Increases disease resistance.
Creates an aquarium night light of unmatched beauty

Wow, that is some air operated treasure chest led light laser thingie. Increases lifespan of fish! Purifies water! Increases disease resistance!

And here I've been doing all these water changes, properly acclimating new fish, keeping constant water parameters, properly stocking my tanks, and using good filtration all this time... IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN!!! The lid flopping up and down on a treasure chest bubbler, exposing lasers would have been so much easier! AND it says I can use up to FIVE of them for every 20 gallons!!! NO WAY! Anything this great for fish AND I could get 18 of them for my 75 gallon too?!?!?! My fish will be GODS!

Caution: Laser light. Avoid direct eye exposure.
Keep out of reach of children

Ok, so I'll have to outfit my fish with special goggles, and make sure myself and the kids have welding masks on when watching the fish, but OMG it's SO WORTH IT!!!

right, however, in a tank that is setup already it'll probably be ok since all the beneficial bacteria are in your gravel and your filter? and they laser can only eliminate so much anyways.

I don't know if I've seen this in person (they don't have it at the small Petco I work at). I would take all the claims with a spoonfull of salt though. I don't think it could possibly live up to those claims and even if it did kill bacteria that would mean you'd lose beneficial bacteria in the tank... doesn't sound that great to me.

yup, and they got like light house ones, and other decorative pieces too. so i guess this is more like a fish thearapy?

and it says it increases fish life span, eliminates basteria, and increases disease resistance. sounds like its osmething worth my buck, kinda like UV in a way than. but i dont want cheesy decoration in my tank:%)
