I just bought this pleco... fairly large about 5 inches in length and i NEVER see him move from the corner of my tank.... is this because he is a nocturnal fish or just lazy? lol I put in algae tabs and some cuccumber and they are both gone so i'm assuming he's eating it...

Plecos ARE generally nocturnal, though most plecos I've seen move around during the day, too. What other fish are in the tank? Could one of them be eating the food for the pleco? Just want to make sure the pleco's eating.

Try this... turn off the lights (tank and room lights) as normal, then wait perhaps an hour or so. Turn on a dim light in the room or use a small flashlight, candle, something like that and sneak up on the tank. You may catch your pleco in action.

I'd keep an eye on him, though. My BN plec and our commons (we had them ages ago) were fairly active during the day as well as night. They're one of my favorite fish to watch... *schloop, schloop, schloop* all over the glass and ornaments.

~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~

I have a clown plec and 5 otos in my tank. It's actually funny because the plec has claimed the log for himself, and the otos clean the glass and the other decorations. I have NEVER seen an oto on the log MINE!

There are a couple holes in the log that the plec likes to hang out in. He rarely moves, but I know he's alive because he keeps his house spotless.

It took him a few days to get adjusted to the 55g, coming from a 10g in the lfs He didn't quite know what to do with himself.

I have a point to this, really. You said you just bought your plec, so give him about a week or so to get adjusted to his new home and find his place. He should be just fine
